MA in Muslim Cultures: "New Approaches to Muslim Realities and Memories", The Aga Khan University, Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (AKU-ISMC)
AKU-ISMC invites you to learn more about its MA in Muslim Cultures which offers a distinctive way of understanding the cultures of Muslims as they have evolved over time. Employing the tools of the humanities and social sciences as a framework for learning, the MA stresses the plurality and complexity of past and present Muslim cultures, studying them as part of world cultures.
Students study arts, architecture, literature, history of science, economics and the social conditions of Muslims alongside the more contemporary disciplines of jurisprudence, doctrine, religious practices and political sciences. A four-week field-based language immersion programme, co-curricular activities and field work, coupled with the development of research tools are integral components of the MA. This exciting Master's degree is taught by international experts and attracts a student body from around the world to its London-based campus.

"Position: Associate Professorship in Arab and Islamic Studies
at Aarhus University, Denmark

http://www.teo.au.dk/en/news/arab. This is a tenured position within a large department for the study of religion, located in the small but growing Arab and Islamic Studies Unit. For the unit, see
http://www.teo.au.dk/aisu. Aarhus University is the second largest university in Denmark, located in the country's second largest city.
As the announcement says, the successul candidate will "demonstrate teaching skills in Islam, Arab history and contemporary Arab society and culture, and he or she will also be expected to contribute to the teaching of Arabic language, including classical Arabic. In addition, the preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate research skills in pre-modern Islam." Further, "Candidates should be able to document research and teaching qualifications equivalent to those obtained by satisfactorily holding a post as assistant professor, researcher or postdoctoral scholar, though these may also be obtained otherwise." For non-EU citizens, the university will arrange the necessary residence and work permits.
