Abdulhadi, thank you for your sentiments... you had me in tears reading your article and how you associate my father's paintings and sketches with freedom, struggle and national pride. On a day where he is once again admitted to hospital for treatments further complications. He has suffered enough, on several levels. It is hugely heartening however, to see that he is appreciated by people like your good self. It makes me proud to be his son.

Thank you.

Proud also should be everyone who knew Yousif or knew of what he and hundreds other people of his generation did as they tried to fill the gap left by the NUC. Each in his/her own small way. When we discuss political development in our country we tend to forget or belittle the important role played by those who contributed positively to our history. This was just an attempt on my part to record what I personally feel about Yousif and the post-NUC generation. Someone, more qualified, shoud do a better job.
