The Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) at Lund University is initiating a call for papers for a three-days workshop on Migration and Spatial Mobility in the Middle East.

Location: CMES Lund University, Sweden
Date: 16-18 May 2011

Papers may cover a variety of topics focusing on migration patterns and processes including spatial migration patterns in Middle East countries and their relations to natural resources (e.g. oil, water), the economic, political, social and cultural impacts of migration in the region, and the consequences of integration or non-integration of migrants. Both qualitative and quantitative analyses are welcome.

Objective: CMES hopes that the workshop will initiate international collaborative multidisciplinary ventures among scholars with a broad range of academic backgrounds.

Cost: CMES will cover travel and lodging costs for participants presenting papers in the workshop. Submitters of accepted proposals will be notified on 25 January 2011. A limited number of scholarships are available for young scholar as ‘listening participants’ (to apply please submit a one page statement of purpose and cv by 15 January 2011).
